Venomous-X Club(Unboxing video+Comparison with TRUE) - Page 19

Sorry if this has already been addressed but I don't have time to trudge through 18 pages of discussion right now...
What do you guys think of http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/coo...ooler-review/1 ?
I was considering the Venomous-X but I'm not impressed with the results there (and I usually trust bit-tech.net very much).

If you already have a D14 I don't think you'll see any improvement.

The thing is I don't already have a D14, I'm just in the market for a new computer and the setup in my sig is what I have in mind currently, but it's not set in stone (in fact it keeps changing)

Here is an OCN member review: http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling...w-updated.html

This review suggests that the Venomous X beats the MegaShadow. I looked at the comment section of that BT review. The staff of BT and their readers fail to understand the significance of fan types (25mm vs 38mm), static pressure vs. CFM, thermal paste, etc. I find BT's review suspiciously incompetent. User reviews on forums are at times much more thorough than these review sites.

This is my first Intel build ever and it's gone very smoothly. The UD7 is so good at recovering from not posting, and when it doesn't it even has a Clear CMOS button on the back, super useful.

I'm doing Prime Blend and it's topping out at 90C now. I think that's safe personally. We all know Intel by default only scales back the chip if it hits 100C, so that says something... plus try googling "i7 920 fried", I haven't found one instance where somebody legitimately fried their chip. As long as I stay under 100C I'll roll with it, only 1 life to live right?

That being said, I'm not going to Linx stress this, as it's quite possible it might hit past 100C when I'm not looking. That would be undesirable. I'm actually strongly considering going for a Noctua NH-D14 and selling my VX. Sacrilege in a club thread I know, but the NH-D14 is a better performer (my general opinion from reading sources I trust) and it has the ability to use Indigo Xtreme, which is probably worth at least 3C.
Interested buyer for the VX here already. PM me when you feel like selling it

Nah just read all their cooler "reviews", megahalems and Noctua D14 get beaten by inferior products in their "special" reviews... as good as that frostytech site or whatever is called.

Its a shame that these jaded review sites and their sponsoring companies do not realize in their greed that the people who read articles like this are the same type of people who double and triple check information on products they are researching.
