Ram with heat spreaders won't fit under this thing.

Anyways got a question for you guys what is your findings on turning the pressure knob? Does it give better cooling when turned all the way down? And how much does it improve?

Hey Venomous X owners, I'm looking at this cooler and trying to decide if it's worth the extra money over a Thermalright True Spirit 120. I can get the TS120 for £23 and the Ven-X Silent for £42 (can't get any other version unfortunately). Obviously with either of them I would be switching out the stock fan as the fan is too noisy on the TS120 and the two fans supplied with the Ven-X Silent are too slow and don't move enough air.

So what do you guys think? I haven't been able to find any direct comparisons of the two but I would guess that, fans being equal, the extra heatpipes on the Ven-X should make it perform slightly better? Is the difference enough that I cough up the extra £20 and get the Ven-X or do I just get the TS120 and put the money saved towards a nice fan(s)? I'd appreciate your thoughts?

Oh, and one more thing, having read through the thread I was a little concerned by the talk of the cooler twisting/moving after being mounted, is this something I should be concerned about?

There's been a good amount of debate on this topic. I'd recommend testing your own configuration to find what works best for you.

It only twists 1mm or so if you have it tightened down a good bit. The contact to the CPU isn't really affected by that.
In just about every comparison I've seen the Ven-X does outperform the Spirit.

You won't be disappointed. If it doesn't come with LGA1155 mounting hardware just shoot Thermalright an email and they should send it to you.

Sorry to necro this thread but mine is very dirty now and I have been trying to clean it. I used dishwashing soap plus high pressure water but the fingerprints are still there. Any suggestions?
