Buy Intel Core i5 or Core i7. And some DDR3 RAM wouldn`t hurt, too.

My mobo doesn't support those...I'd wait to get a build with those a while later. After upgrading to a 64bit OS, will 4GB of RAM total be better than an upgrade from an 8600GTS?

Can I upgrade from Vista 32bit to Windows 7 Ultimate 64, and not have to do a clean install?

Absolutely without a doubt.

Didn't you say you had $140? This just showed up in my inbox. Great deal there at newegg.com! Your RAM should be on the top of the list of upgrades for your needs, but if you can swing this, I would jump on it!

idk, i think he should save that 140 then.

put it into a newer generation mobo and cpu
or

buy 2gb more ram, save the rest of the money and put it into a new i5/i7/phenomII build.

If it were me, I wouldn't even buy any more DDR2. Just start saving now rather than investing anymore into what you already have. I just thought I'd share that CPU deal with you since you mentioned you only just recently got your current system. Don't forget to consider the fact that someone will buy your current system on here too, so that extra money can be used on a new build too. Anyways, I hope we helped you think it all through.

I'm going well with my current build for what I do...which isn't much. A game here and there and some HD video stuff, internet, that's it.

So what would be better?

- A new GPU

- 2 more gigs of RAM

- Core 2 Quad (wouldn't I need a new PSU for this?)

for use with HD video and anything in Vegas Pro.
