Why do i lag on Flash games?

Thread Starter
im using a GTX 260 graphics card and im still lagging.

for example...
im playing a flash game on facebook called fish world.
its running really smooth when theres about 200 fish.

but after i hit 400s it starts to really lag...and almost unplayable after 800 fishes.

whats bottlenecking? memory cards? or the memory speed on the video card?

would SLI on the GTX 260 help?

I think it's just your cpu that's being used to play the flash game. Maybe there's just way too many fish. I'll try it real quick to see if I have the same problem.

It's CPU related, not GPU related.

What browser are you using? I went from IE and Firefox to Chrome and the difference was night and day. Both IE and Firefox were running slow on a variety of things; Chrome was just simply amazing on my rig not to say it will play across the board for everyone.

*Edit: I play a lot of Facebook games; the larger my farm or fish tank got the slower Firefox and IE got; Chrome was like I just started my tank and farm.

Wow, how did you get 400 fish? I think the game wasn't designed for someone to have that many fish in that tiny tank.

I'm pretty sure it's like FarmVille, and you can over time upgrade your tank size and get more fish.

Also OP, try reinstalling Flash to the latest version or try the latest Flash version Beta which could help some.

this happened to my p4 system. I dont think it is a gfx problem because my sister's computer could run all flash games lag-free when she had onboard before i gave her my 7300 =P and your 8800gts is awesme

I'm guessing it's either the ram or the cpu. Since your cpu is more than sufficient, im gonna narrow it down to the ram. but i could be wrong.

If that's the case then that's the reason why it's lagging. Play the game as it's intended and it won't be a problem then.

Also, flash apps use a ton of memory. If you look at your memory usage when spamming all of the fish, the browser you're using will be using a ton of memory.

chrome does help a little

also check task manager.
with the game up and running with 550 fishes.
processor capped out at 100% both cores O.o
memory usage on firefox went from 70,000k to 150,000k

running the memory at 1000mhz at 5-5-5-15 timing.
with 4 gigs.

going to overclock processor to 3.8gigs to see if it helps.
