Painting case

Thread Starter
Well, the first time I did this I really screwed it up, and looks really bad; so I need the most help I can get for case painting. I want this to look the best possible, so I'd really appreciate any info/link/tips/etc. you could give. Btw, I'm only painting the insides, so if you could specify anything more about that, better.
Thanks, gtg now.

make sure you UNRIVET everything and spray each part individually first, then rivet it all back together. Also i would suggest buffing it first to make sure everything is flat and to get an every coat just go over it many times quickly.

this will probably seem strange but try google for radio controlled car painting. theres loads on preparing the surface and how to get brilliant finishes and air brushing.

It all depends on ur case materials, if ur case is made of aluminum then painting it is not the answer but anodize it, if u paint aluminum after awhile it will chip, anodize is a different method. for the rest of ur computer parts im assuming its plastic so its safe to paint them. process of painting metal cases would be u have to sand it down to remove all uneven portions and debris/dust/dirt, then resand it again with a fine grade of sandpaper, once ur done sanding it resand it again but this time its a different technique, u have to wet sand it to make it perfectly smooth i would suggest spraying wd40 on the case while sanding it. once ur done wet sanding ur ready to paint u can buy those METAL SPRAY CAN from home depot or any hardware shop. when ur paint ur case make sure the spray can is 20 ft away while ur spraying. spray them from left to right then right to left make sure u make 2 pass per spray. once ur done spraying it u can now apply the clear coate, heres the tricky part once ur done applying the clear coate u have to wet sand the painted parts gently u have to use a really fine grade of sand paper, when ur wet sanding it ur jsut trying to sand down the clear coat itself not the entire paint. if ur not confident enough to do this u can skip it and jsut apply the clear coate and ur done. as easy as that.. and oh yeah like what ares said u have to pull them apart piece by piece and paint them one by one to get that look ur are looking for

That looks really good; is that anodized or just spray painted?

the mouse was sprayed using the cans of paint you can buy in hardware shops.

ehh... I did the same thing with my mouse, but with non metallic black paint.. Most of the paint came off in a week or so; soo I have a ugly black looking mouse with scratches and buttons completely rubbed off. Good thing it's a generic piece of crap that I'm upgrading soon.
