Overclocking my Newark 4000+ - Page 3

Well, the most important thing about overclocking is finding out your memory capabilities, I always say this.
As far as my memory, if I want to run 285, I use 2.5-3-3-5 1t. With 2.7-2.8. I haven't really tested the voltage difference.
But daily I run 264 2.5-3-3-5 1t 2.6v.
Your chip is probably maxing out, I wish I had it infront of me so I could play

My Newark 3700 runs at 3.0ghz on air, and stable load temps are 42c. vcore 1.68volt, memory timmings 3 5 5 10 1/1 vdimm 2.90volt, I had the same problem with mine in tell I losen up the timmings, hope this helps.

I don't think the chip is maxing out quite yet, lol. I can boot stable everytime at 2.937 w/ 1.488 Vcore. I can get a superpi 1M run, but I get rounding errors for a 32M run. This makes me think my ram still needs some adjusting. It has only been overclocked for 2 days now, so it may just need some more time.
I can push a 267 FSB at 3-3-3-8 2.8 vdimm.

I will try and loosen my timings some more, I haven't tried 3-5-5-10 yet, and the highest vdimm I was running was 2.8v. From your overclock, and Xaviers, it looks like a lot of stability is gained with a higher vcore, 1.65-1.75, which is always good Thx for the info!

dont worry about the memory yet man, just rule it out and find each individual component maximum...seems you are trying everything at the same time..

No please don'e lower your ram any more, if anything start running a divider so you can get some tighter timmings, thats what is butchering your Super pi is the loose timmings.

IMO, more voltage for about an hour then bring it back to normal ^^, but thats just me.. I couldnt wait for the cooling.

With a divider I can boot to 3.0 at 1.5 vcore, but not spi stable yet. New ram so I am just curious as to what it can do. Super Pi score definetly needs some tweaking, I will try and work on that when I get home from work. Newark seems to like a 5:6 divider, maybe I can get some 2.9+ runs with
2-2-2-5 timings.

More voltage will definelty help, but I don't think you understand the crappiness of my heatsink. It is probably worst then a stock cooler, lol. My temps at 2.85 are 48-53, anything higher and I hit 60's. I noticed that once my temp goes above 56 the cpu seems to drag.

I can wait for my better cooling, lol . Already have everything but the block, and I ordered that yesterday. Patience is a virtue!

That would yeild 30 or lower scores if you could get 2.9+ 2-2-2-5.

Good luck, keep us updated when you get your cooling.

Update:

Super Pi times suck with a 5:6 divider, only 32s, even at 2.9. To break the 30 barrier I am going to need to push a really high FSB, 270+ at around 2.9.

I decided to push the chip with the 13 multi, I managed to get this

3.107 @ 1.47v - Not super pi stable yet, but working on it!

ok, try this, seems you can run up to 267 on the mem..let's see if this will run..Try bringing the volts a tad higher. I hope this is superpi 1M stable..

HTT will have to be 3. I can boot to windows but not super pi stable yet. I think cpu needs more volts (1.45v currently). I can run 1M for about 4 seconds then I stall out. 3-3-3-5 seems to work up to about 250 FSB, I may have to loosen my ram to 3-3-3-8 to get my ram stable at anything over 250.

I am happy that I can boot to 3.1 with a relatively low vcore, I just need to spend some more time working on stability. 3.2 is next!
