Startup Issue with Firefox.... HELP

Thread Starter
Whenever I click on firefox the first time since a reboot or a computer startup it takes like 10 seconds for my home page and the actual browser to come up. This also happens after registry optimization, spyware/adware removal, and disk defrag so does anyone know why it takes SO long to load or how I can fix this?

Try reinstalling. That always helps.

Are you opening it RIGHT after booting up? As in are your start up applications still loading up when you are trying to open FireFox? The best way to test this is to click in the icon once and see if it immediately highlights or takes a while, if it immediately highlights, then your computer is ready to go and is probably not doing anything else that could slow down the opening of programs.

Hi,

If Firefox is the first thing to connect to the internet after your machine's finished booting it could be that your PC's taking a while to negotiate its connection to the net and that Firefox is being held back by that.

I'd check your system & application error logs and also any logs in your firewall to see if anything along those lines is happening.

Also, the FireTune utility might shave a few seconds off your start time, regardless of any other underlying issues... http://www.totalidea.com/freestuff4.htm
