"Running Passive CNPS9500 w/many fans on 1 fanmate" Question.

Hey, all.

I just took the fan off of my Zalman cooler cause it was making this squealy noise and I am trying to maintain low temps using just my case fans.

So far I am getting pretty good temps but a couple degrees hotter.

I want to OC my CPU a little but before I up the voltage I was to get the System as silent as possible so I know what kind of starting temps I'm dealing with.

I want to undervolt all of my case fans at the same but don't have enough money for a multi-fan controller or many fanmates. I want to try running 3 fans on one fanmate using some y-adapters but I wanted to check with you guys first and make sure I was'nt going to fry my PSU or hurt my fanmate or brand new Nexus fans.

Am I risking damage or will the only effect be diminished voltage across my fans?

I really want to get to overclocking TONIGHT but first, you gotta do what you gotta do...

first of all, your fanmate wont be able to handle 3 at the same time, since it can only support up to 5v i believe. Take your CPU Fan off the HS? Man, not gonna work, your just gonna have all hell. May i ask why you want to make your computer silent? Because the motherboard chip fan will probably be the loudest thing in your system, and imo, its pretty soft..

Actually, I've found that with some properly applied AS5 and the all-copper efficienty of my CNPS9500, my CPU hasn't gotten too hot during a few minutes of Prime95.

I have one fan pointing straight to my HS and the exhaust right behing that.

I took the fan out of my Blue Ice 2 as I also have an intake fan point directly at that too. Northbridge is at about 26*C right now and ambient temps are like 68*F (not too much lower in C, I think).

All of my fans are uber-quiet 120mm Nexus but I still hear too much whoosh.

This PC may need to be around live recording mics so I'm trying to SILENCE it.

BTW my PSU fan has been modded with some rubber fanisolators and my hdd's are suspended in elastic so you see how this project fits in to the situation.

Thanks for the hint though. I'll do some research on the electrical specs of the fanmate.

Nexus silent cae fans rated at 1.8 Watts each and Zalman fanmate delivers 6 Watts MAX. (3 x 1.8) < 6 Here we go!!!

I ended up just used some stretch magic to strap an 80mm Nexus to my CNPS9500. You were right. Load temps were a little higher than I wanted but now they're back down with no noise at all. I'm stoked!!!!
