overclocking with bad video card,

Hi Question about overclocking with bad video card,

I'm trying to run my Pen 4 3.0e Prescott (478) on a ASUS P4p800se with a Old Radeon 7500 64mb. I am curious if this combination is imparing my ability to overclock while encoding and recoding video files. I have my fsb set to 220 Mhz and 1:1 Dram Ration (Samsung DDR400 512mb x 2 dual slots) , and as soon as I start encoding , the cpu starts throttling, even at a FSB speed of 210 Mhz !!!

I guess what I want to ask you , will a faster Graphic card be more benificial when overclocking, or should this have no effect on the whole process, should I look at better cooling etc.????

Thank you

I dont think its a Video card or CPU. Probably poor Hard drive!

Welcome to Overclock.net!

I have merged your two threads (of the same subject) so there is less clutter.

As for overclocking with a low end video card: it makes no difference to your system. If nothing else, you are using less power from your 12V rail, which could possibly mean a more stable 12V rail, which is better for overclocking.

Video card type does not affect overclocking of the system.

Try a divider on your RAM, thats the problem I had with my comp before I did a divider, simple stuff like the screen saver would crash it.
