Graphics card issue

post #1 of 8
Thread Starter
So today i was working with my V/C and here are some results ((photos below))
This is my card
Stock settings:
Core=370mhz
Mem= 1000Mhz
Now i no the my overclocking head room is pretty much limited. But i have some bottle necking going on.
Photos show below settings and scores.
Now i have upped the volts to the AGP to 1.70 volts from 1.65 volts. It seemed to help cause prior to the increase the 3Dmark05 score was about 4235.
Now i have in the past pressed the detect optimal frequencies button and it put my core @ 441 and memory @ 1.18. After doing this i ran the the 3Dmark05 test which ran fine for the first test and when it blinks to the second test the desk top appears for a brief moment and temp are 38c CPU and 37c V/C.
Just as the second run of the benchmark starts i get artifact like crazy and system locks up. Having to restart my computer.
But when i clock up the core to 400 up with out upping the memory it runs all test fine and slightly higher scores than before.

And yes fresh driver install with Driver cleaner Using 77.77. These work the best for me.

Questions:
Theory: I have heard that by me upping the volts wont do much for the performance of the card? (()) Is that correct?

Could this be related to the memory heat sinks i have installed on the V/C. ((Not doing there job by overheating memory chips))

Any suggestion out there?

I thought AGP voltage was 1.5? Have you tried lowering it?
Do the ram sinks get hot to touch?...if so then it might need a fan blowing across the card.
Have you tried any of the new drivers ?81.95's or 81.98's I have heard really good things about the 83.xx series too.

cool...
Shut down everything but 3dmark. go into task manager and shut down everything you dont need. Defragmenting hdd first will help to. I bet you get a bit better score. If i remember right my 6800gt got about 5600.
