Fun is what we're going for. I don't think we're trying to put ourselves across as a 'sim', it's merely a category that has been created, perhaps out of necessity more than anything. We're trying to make a fun game, with a great story, that happens to be set in a fictional world in space.

When we make $$$$$$ from this project, we'll make a more realistic stand-alone game, and bring you on board as our physics consultant

How ironic that I upgraded from my old machine because it couldn't handle X3: Terran Conflict (but it could with Crysis).

I shall have to try this out

Just so you're aware, this mod is NOT based on the X Universe, it is a completely seperate universe. The X32I name came from the nature of scientists to label every star and planet they find with a codename, rather than an actual name!

I would also like to point out to those complaining about the lack of full newtonian phsyics behind this a game, whilst one of the recurring ideas is to create a believably evolved universe, it is just that, fiction, the sci-fi fiction is not purely thought evoking but covers an absolutely massive genre segment, from both purely realistic futuristic work, to glibly fantastical work. At some point you have to draw the line between realism, and fantasy/fun. We have tried to draw a line somewhere that is fun, without being unbelievable, yet this is never going to suit everyone, as everyone has a different concept of how a game/universe should run.

If it was to be completely realistic, it'd be a very very boring game, with mostly black backdrops, no working wormhole theory etc etc the list goes on. At its very nature, this is fiction.

Regarding the genre label, I'm sorry but this sort of game is generally labelled as a space combat simulation (usually when any sort of shield management etc is involved, rather than as a pure arcade title), whether that is technically true, it is the common usage, hence it being labelled as such here.

Also to the wings comment, whilst yes they are less useful in space, beyond providing additional space for technology, there is also the simple fact the design brief lists a dual functionality as atmospheric capable craft. There's also the fact designing a fighter that looks like a lunchbox isn't exactly exciting!

Anyway, we do hope everyone enjoys what comes out of the team in the coming months!
