Need to gauge interest. Laser cutting.

Thread Starter
So OK everybody, here is the deal.

I'm looking into buying a laser cutting machine to help expand my capabilities.

What I'd like to know is just your opinions on if you think you or other people would use me as a laser cutting service provided I do buy one.

Now this laser to going to be 10K+, so I need to really weigh in some considerations.

All the best,

FrozenQ

Well to be honest if your prices are good, and craftsmanship is good then I can purchase your services for smaller bits of work. For instance I need a fan grill made for a 200mm case fan. I contacted a few online vendors like MNPCTech, and frozenCPU, but they could not help me. For such a grill I cannot see spending more than 20.00 bucks. Regardless combining all of the OCN modders I am sure you can get more than enough business.

I could def use a 200 mm fan grill right now, i keep getting cut by my fingers. I would even buy 120 fan grills from you, just to support the OCN community

I'd love to have a inexpensive source for laser cutting! Acrylic is a pain to sand down from table saw marks and if I worked through you it would certainly save time and money! Only problem I'd have is shipping costs, and of course, your costs. How would you measure the price? Per hour/cut?... I would be less than confident in cheap prices for cutting a few squares and circles, but I don't know what I'm talking about. If the price is right, I would certainly work through you.

Um, now this is just me, but I wouldn't think of the laser cutter being able to pay itself off very quickly. You'd have to do between 1,000 and 500 pieces. ($10 - $20 a pop). It may help boost the rest of your business though, as people would be more inclined to think of you as the go to guy for modding stuff.

Curious is a 10 k cutter new or used?

Also I could definitely use some things cut. (If the price is right of course)
