Thread Starter
hi guys, i'm new to this forum and i was just wondering if you guys know what is the best temperature for my friends Intel P4 2.4 to run at. right now its running at around 55ºC. its at 1.8 ghz, should i be able to put it to 2.4ghz without it getting any warmer?

P.S it's a stock fan.

No...you would need to up the voltages to get there and that will heat it up. With a good aftermarket cooler mabye.

Regardless that is hot! Try to get some Artic Silver 5, or another similiar silver based thermal compound for processor. That will probably drop your temps around 15C

Arctic 5 is a paste:

http://www.arcticsilver.com/

Thermal pads and stock pastes are normally crap.

It is very possible the overclock is killing the sound. Make sure the agp/pci bus is locked at 66/33 respectively.
