Vcore??

Thread Starter
hey, I've got some questions.

1. The higher the voltage (if safe) the better performance?? And why?
2. I've got stock 1.550, now 1.660 is this safe?
3. What is the MAX SAFE VCORE (for me)?

Thankx in advance!

that is a killer overclocking cpu if its a venice???? voltage helps with stability as long as you are keeping the cpu as cool as possible!!!!!! The cpu can take a lot of volts under the correct conditions, 1.75 is not uncommon when doing a big oc of over a gig+ BUT you MUST keep it COOL!!!! If its not cool you will not be successful, you might get 2700 or even 2800 on 1.5 or 1.6 vcore but you will be hot if in a warmer climate. You can try to put the vcore up even more to go for a huge OC but if its not stable and running at a safe OC at the minimum vcore you can get it at( to keep it cool) the overall OC is a failure. STABILITY IS EVERYTHING - MAXIMUM MHZ- MINIMUM VOLTS- MINIMUM TEMP should make for a very good OC!!!!! the difference between .025 volts can be the difference between 2800 or 3000 mhz as long as the temps are good!!!- if you know what I mean

Thx I guess.. Yeah it's a venice.
But I didn't catch your point.. Should I lower the volts or higher them (Now 2.61 GHZ.) And what are good temps??

if you are new to overclocking dont push your volts past 1.6. Too many people here are throwing rediculous voltages out and making it seem like you can just keep bumping the vcore until you run it into the ground. You are going to fry that chip before you know it.
Read up on some OC stickies and understand the basics before you start messing with vcore. The volts are the last thing you want to mess with in overclocking.

You only raise the vcore to make your system stable, anything more is a waste, and possiable damage to the cpu, and you only raise it as long as you keep your temps below 55c.

My temps keep are under 50C

So what should I do.

Here's the exactly stats:

FSB:300
Multiplayr: 8.5
AGP: 1.6
RAM: 2.7

So how high should I put the voltage? 1.600 ?

raise the speed, if it crashes and you know its due to the cpu then bumb up vcore then try to raise speed again so on and so forth and try to get stable at each point
