Finally building!

Now i am finally gonna build my pc, mainly because i HAVE to as my laptop is ultimately beginning to die on me. I have been meaning to do it since agggessss , but now have to do it.

Here's where all the trouble starts though :
I am going Intel ONLY , i was tempted by AMD, but i am definetly going INTEL ONLY . (just to reiterate) .
So what do people over here suggest ??

Budget is 1100 pounds approx. : 1900 USD
I have PSU : hiper 580W
I have a hard drive : WD 300Gb , but dont mind another one.
I have a monitor.

So the rest i leave upto people here.
If possible, please select motherboards which will be compatible with Presler.
SLI is an almost must, (for future upgrades).
Thanks to all in advance

Pressler from what I know is going to be the same thing as the above processor. I also believe it will be on the 775 socket. But I would do some additional research to check. If you don't want to spend that much for a processor the 630 through 670 is great:

630: 3.0 GHz 2MB L2 64Bit $174
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116198

640: 3.2 GHz 2MB L2 64Bit $216
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116197

650: 3.4GHz 2MB L2 64Bit $269
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116196

660: 3.6 $413.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116195

670: 3.8 $618
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116203

Then with the extra money, get another 7800GT in SLI (you will need an SLI PSU as well) or get another Raptor and do dual raptors, or get some more/better RAM!

That mobo that I recommend is BRAND NEW with some real nice OC features. That fan system it has take 5C off your processor temp (according to a few reviews that I read).

I wish I had 1900!

If I were you I'd wait a month or so and get the following;

Pentuim 4/D 955 Extreme Edition (Presler I think) £740ish
Asus 975 Motherboard £150ish
2GB Corsaid XMS2 (210ish) or 2GB Corsair Value Select DDR2 (140ish)
G71 7800 £380ish
X-Fi FPS 64MB £140/150ish
And whatever case, DVDROM, DVDRW take your fancy.

Check out places such as www.scan.co.uk www.overclockers.co.uk www.ebuyer.co.uk www.dabs.co.uk (The first 2 tend to be the cheapest).

The prices I've listed are only my estimates but should be close enough. To be fair I think you would be just as happy with a single core Pentium 4 650 or 660 and overclocking it. The HT on these CPU's makes the current Pentium D 8** lineup seem a little pointless in my opinion as the only one of them with HT is the 840 EE.

I did some research. If you want your mobo to be current with the new line of processors coming out then you need to get a 975X chipset. Only ASUS and Gigabyte has 975X mobos out right now.

I wouldnt get a 840 since the 955 is gunna come out.

personally I wouldnt waste money on a EE....get a 930 w/ cooler and overclock. the EE isnt worth $700 more for HT..
