Thread Starter
I would like to know if my Intel Celeron 2.8ghz is a good trade for a AMD Athlon XP 1.8ghz computer or not?

No. I would doubt you could find anyone willing to trade that. That AMD has double the power.

Well i'd have to say go with the AMD but that's because i'm an AMD guy

But personally i think the Intel Celeron machine would out preform the 1.8Ghz AMD Machine

double the power?? are you serious? Be that it is a celeron its not like its crap, Its a crippled p4 nothing different has lower cache. if its a skt 478 celeron i would think it would beat the XP easily.

To be honest ive never been a Celeron fan and im not just saying this because im an INTEL guy but i reckon the Celeron would be alot better than that AMD
post #6 of 10
If the celeron is a Celeron D then it will out perform the amd no problem, the amd might(MIGHT) pull better numbers on 3d marks but everything else the celeron will out due it. Run a benchmark on sandra with both machines and it will show the facts.

So is it better or not? I can't run a benchmark on the amd system because it is at my uncle's house and I don't go there rarely.

That depends, if you plan on OCing the XP to the moon then it will destroy the Celeron (If it's a T-Bred B, or a Barton, T-Bred As are horrible) If you are going to run at stock speed then the Celeron would probably win most of the benchmarks.

Well that athlon xp is 2200+ and your celeron is 2.8, the celly would be better for multitasking but the amd is better for gaming
