Overclocking?

Thread Starter
OK now that i have my new rig iam going to start some OCin. I really dont know where to start. What program should i use to do it? What speeds should be ok? What temp is ok? How do i test it? Should i OC my ram and CPU along with the video card or it doesnt matter? What if i OC the ram i have now and i get another gig later on would the new ram automatically be set at those speeds? Along with another video card?

I would start out by d/ling coolbits 2 at www.guru3d.com, then putting the program into your registry.

here's a link- http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=815

BTW- off topic but how do you make the links that aren't the website, but they are words?

EDIT: do you have your idle and load temps?

Install it by just double clicking on it and installing it to the registry. To use it, right click on your desktop, and under the "nVidia Display" section, click on your monitor. That should bring up a new window, and one of the sections on the left side will be "Clock Frequency". (That is coolbits)
You can check your GPU temp in the temperature setting section.

EDIT: you might have to restart before you can use it

Do manual and set your GPU at about 480/1.10. Your GPU shouldn't get more than about 60 at load, or else you will experience artifacting and other problems caused by overheating.

After that, do something strenuous for the card for about a half-hour and make sure everything looks right.

If you want, you could probably push it up to about 500/1200, but be careful and make sure it doesn't get more than about 60-65

I heard eVGA made a bios mistake on a lot of cards, and the speeds were set too high, so that seems right for stock speeds

EDIT: unless you have the Copper Heatsink edition, where that is the normal stock speed.
