Ok, finally my brother is getting to order his computer tomorrow morning so I just wanted you guys to look over it and give your comments/opinions/suggestions or point out potential problems.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo
MOBO: DFI LanParty UT RDX-200 CF-DR
RAM: 4x512MB OCZ Platinum Series DDR600
VGA: MSI RX600XT 128MB (will up to R580 in March)
HDD: Maxtor MaXLine Plus III 300GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache
CASE: ASUS Vento 3600 Black
PSU: My OCZ PowerSream 600W
Monitor: My Viewsonic VP191b 19in LCD
Speakers: Klipsch Promedia 2.1
Mouse: Logitech MX518
Keyboard: My Saitek Gamers

Also has Tt Big Typhoon for CPU cooling and a black LG DL DVD burner. All of the stuff that says "My" in front of it means I am giving those to him out of my rig and am getting from him a Seasonic S12-600 PSU, Saitek Eclipse keyboard and a Viewsonic VX922 monitor.....so what do you guys think?

Yeah, lose the 4 x 512 MB. 2 x 1 GB will help w/ dual channel.

BTW... Dukey is right... I love that rig.

Thanks guys, I will look into the 2x1GB, I am actually just about to order it now so if anyone has anything to say, say it now or forever hold your peace.

EDIT/// No go, newegg carries 0 sticks of unbuffered unregistered DDR600 in 1GB sticks (not even 2x1GB dual channel kits!) looks like 4x512 it is.

Lol, I was expecting tons of nagging over that X600XT But hey, I stuck it back into my system to test it and it got 29FPS in CSS at all max settings, 6xaa 16xaf at 1280x1024 to my X800XL's 87FPS! lol, that's actually not too shabby for a 4 pipe card

why not just put duel 160 gig HDD in a raid 0 or get 4 80 gig HDD in a raid 0+1 to increase performance... and why get 4 sticks of 512? 2 gigs? athlon should not need more than 1 gig but its nice to have anyways, go with 1 sticks of 1 gig. its better over 4 sticks cuz later u can put more in. if u use up all the slots now what will u put in later... 600W PSU seems a little over the edge fopr this one, 400 will work fine. dont want to pull too much power it will heat it up like eegs on a sidewalk in the navada sun. and how about a better heat sink? asus is famous for over clocking so he will over clock no? stock heat sink must go....

Lol, and yeah, I know you would get the Raptor but I was just at my friend's house with the Alienware with the Raptor and it totally convinced me to stay away from them

EDIT/// magictoast, the PSU is there because he is getting an X1900XTX in March and another for CrossFire in September for his Bday so a powerful PSU is really going to be needed, also it is likely that he will eventually overhaul it to a sockett AM2 mobo/cpu/ram with an FX62 or something.

Just so you know, if you buy x4 512 sticks you will have to run 2T. A64 mem controlers don't like 4 sticks. I know from first hand experience. Plus, if you worried about oc ability, x4 sticks will hinder it as much as not having ddr 600 rated 1gb modules. Get x2 1gb modules rated at pc4000 speeds, and you'll be much happier.

I seem to recall something about that motherboard "eating" dual core processors? Or maybe that was the Expert... either way, do some research on that board and consider an alternative...
