new system what can i expect?

Thread Starter
ok all parts not in yet due to fedex takin off for new years, crap
but heres list Asrock SataII, Opteron 146 CAB2E, 2g OCZ Platinum edition pc3200, 120g 7200rpm western digital(for now), Thermaltake aquarius 3 external liquid cooling system, i know the clock speed will depend alot on how well the cooling system works but i was wondering what a good estimate of a safe overclock i should easily reach and an estimate of what i can expect on the higher end

I Would Not Expect Too Much, 2 Gig Of Pc 3200? Go With Corsair And A Higher Quality. Corsair Makes The Best Ram By Far

I am new at overclocking, so don't listen to me. However, you ask about a "safe overclock". The only safe overclocking is to make adjustments that do not require more voltage. Usually increasing the FSB/HTT until the system hangs.

As to the upper end, each computer overclocks differently and even the same brand CPUs, memory and motherboards overclock differently.

There are some general rules like slower CPUs overclock better than the state of the art CPUs. I think this is because the slower CPUs just have more headroom via the factory testing.

I suggest you read, read and then read some more. The internet is full of how to info. Everybody has their own opinion on computer parts. Some like Asus and some like DFI, some like OCZ and some like Corsair. I went through four motherboards before I found one I liked.

Go slow, burn in the equipment before you overclock; your machine will be more stable. Check temps and keep good notes, with you test scores so you can remember what worked best.

well goldenboy is right u dont want to attemt and fail at overclockin foirst time up, and when ur system hangs if your mobo does not have that feature to automaticly reset your CMOS do it manualy read up on it. cuz........ some people are like oh no my computer is broken!! AAAHHHHH. but its not the case they just did not read

Corsair doesn't make good DDR sticks. There's far better for AMD processors.
