Thinking of upgrading from my A7N8X Deluxe. Where can I find a good explanation of SLI vs. non SLI ? Been out of the loop since building this current box.
Thx for any info.

What other components are you going to be using? AMD or P4? Socket?

What Memory?

Tell me that And I would let you know..

Sorry I didn't provide more info but I'm not sure on any of those yet. Generally I like to build just below the bleeding edge where I can get more bang for my bucks
Thx

SLi motherboards are more expensive than one-PCI-E boards. Also, you need a large power supply (2 video cards eat up lots of watts) that is SLi-certified. In an SLi rig, processor power is more important because the two video cards need to be managed effectively.

So, building an SLi rig would cost more upfront, but it will pay off later. In SLi, you don't have to buy the most expensive video card to get awesome performance. You just need two decent ones.

It's getting to the point where SLi certified PSU's are cheap. My NUUO was 70 bucks and it's hands down the best power supply I've ever had.

You can go he route I'm going down. I have an SLI-DR (BEST MOBO EVER ), but only one 7800GT..and it'll stay that way for about a year until the next generation comes out and I can throw in a better processor ad another 7800GT

Well there's more than just SLI to think about now, there's also ATi's "Crossfire".

nVidia's SLI (Scalable Link Interface) uses an SLI Bridge, half of the Data is processed by the master card and the other half by the Slave card.

The information processed in the Slave card is then sent to the master card via the SLI Bridge and is then combined with the other half and sent to the monitor.

ATi's Crossfire utilizes the same principle's but does not use an "SLI Bridge", instead the data is transfered using the Dual DVI Connector.

Although I don't know a whole terrible lot about crossfire, I've *heard* less than great things about it.

I have also, it doesn't seem to be any sort of 'match' for SLI.
