the dreaded MSI afterburner corruption

Getting the "some of the msi afterburner components are missing, expired or corrupted!" message anytime I try to install a newer version after 1.1.1.
I need the newer version because the EnableUnofficalOverclocking only works with 1.4.1 or newer.
This message showed up after a suicide run in vantage when the system crashed. No matter how many times I try to reinstall afterburner, even to a different location, I get the same message.
HELP! I need my 1ghz core back!

try to uninstall it, then use some registry cleaner or clean it yourself

Mastiffman had a guide somewhere but I lost the link... anyway you should uninstall it, download the newest Afterburner, install it either on another PC or drive (I used an external HD I had lying around) then move the "MSI Afterburner" folder from the new location back to your original PC. You can make a copy of the profiles folder to keep your settings (or just write them down I guess).

Thanks guys. Im not sure what I did, but I looked this morning and somehow I got version 1.4.1 running again. Must have just been the magic combination of installs/uninstalls.
