Hi Sleeper

Yeah It was for a little while, I was playing Hitman contacts and playing it for nearly a hour and it would just freeze the game.

I also had my Video card OC'ed at the time also.

So yeah maybe it need's the extra volts, but I think I need a better PSU to get it fully stable.

I have it at 10x252 atm and 1.45 vcore and it seems stable.

Do you guys think I should get a bigger PSU or just up the voltage?

I'm not running a lot of hardware just the video card and 1 sata HD.

Cheers

Josh

Hi guys I just started ocing my system and I noticed my stepping is revision DH-E3, is that like a newer model? I bought it like 7-8 months ago.

I forgot to write down the stepping code, but I will have a look by next week if I get chance

Is there anyway I can increase my oc safely, last time I got into 280x10 @stock voltage, but my BIOS won't even boot

Cheers!

sorry bout that, my net freaked out on me and i freaked out back. for some reason it posted it 3 times. lol. back to ocing though, up your vcore a bit but whats your ht multiplyer at? if your going above 2.5Ghz you want to drop it to x3 and you wont have to drop it any farther unless you somhow hit like 3.33Ghz which would be insane. up your vcore to 1.5 volts but watch your temps and btw, the E3 stepping seems to get superior overclocks to the E6.

edit: Rudyn, whats your divider? your memory should go beyond 250Mhz easy. isnt the platnum a ddr500 kit?

Hi sleeper300, my HTT is at 3x when I'm running > 250 FSB and no I never got it lower than that

So I have the E3 steppings then, what's the difference between E6 & E3? And what DH means / stands?

I'm running at stock vcore now, so I don't really worry about my temp. But I'm gonna boost that a bit and see if I can get it to 280 stable. What's the ideal max and idle temp for these chips anyway? I'm using XP90-C with 90mm TT.

I haven't tweak my RAM yet, except I changed it to 1T. My RAM is the OCZ EB DDR PC-4000 / 500MHz. And how do I use divider? Sorry I never tweak RAM before

if your getting up towards and above, you might have to have your vcore around 1.5-1.55 but dont go above 1.6 becaus thats getting a little to risky. with the memory, set it to ddr400. even though it is ddr500, set it to ddr400. all that ddr500 means is that it is gaurenteed to hit 250Mhz or above.try the timings 2.5-3-3-6. the timings given (3-3-2-8) are the ddr500 timings so you need to loosen up only when you get up to a 250Mhz htt and even then you might not have to loosen up to 3-3-2-8 but no gaurentees. my temps idle at 33 and load at 48 and are considered rather good for stock so under 50-55c

As long as your LOAD temps are OK then you can up the vcore a little, try a little more and then do some testing. What are you using for testing. OCCT is not a bad little program that only takes about half an hour to finish, if you pass that then you can move on to Prime. As for the PSU then you can check the rails with Speedfan under load and see if it is holding stable. A 350 watter is not really ideal for use in overclocking but it might be OK.

I got my machine stable at the following

name= 3200+
code name= Venice
brand id = 4
technology = 90 nm
vcore = 1.500v
vmem = 2.7
core = 2607Mhz
multiplier = x10
htt = 260Mhz
htm = 4x
Ram = 2.5-3-3-7 at 217MHZ this value select is not bad
Load Temp = 45C
Idle Temp = 36C

I raised the vcore a bit and it very stable now,I ran Stress test with Si sandra for 1 hour and it did not lockup.

I'm running prime now no error's so far

So I'm at 2600 so that's a FX55 minus the extra cache.
