Hey Guys,

I'm buying a new 1156 mobo for my i5 and my two 285gtx's

I've been looking round and i've seen the p55 and the h55/h57

Has anyone got any info on which would be best for my components,

Is there any difference or is it marginal?

I know the p55 platform only accepts x16 bandwidth but does the h55/57 deal with more,

I only ask as I REALLY don't want to cry over a ****e mobo!

If it helps i'm using a 24" dell @ 1920 x 1200 and i'd like full x16/x16 bandwidth if at all possible, i know it wont make much difference with the 285's but if i decide to go for another or a 295 i want all my bases covered.

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

The H55/H57 will work with Lynnfield i7/i5's, but they're really meant for dual core i5/i3's (Clarkdale), as they can utilize their on chip GPU.

Are you getting an i5 750 or clarkdale i5? If you're getting the Quad core, get a P55 as there's nothing better about the H55/H57.

Edit: I'll vote once I know which kind of i5 you have.

Regardless of your cpu choice I would recomend going for P55. That said if you want x16/x16 then you'll have to either go X58 or buy one of the P55 boards with an nf200 chip

Hey,

I've already got a msi p55 - not the gd65/80 but i'm regretting that.

I have the i5 750 and i am quite impressed with its OC'in capability.

so you think i should stick with the p55?

and yes i'd like the nf200!!

As far as I know, only P55 will do SLI if your planning to do SLI. I don't think H55/57 will do SLI (Not sure) and even if it does, it will do 4x/4x and you will see a bottleneck so don't bother.

So P55 here, and IGP is worthless anyway if your planning to stick a video card in anyway.
