I would love to take it higher. But I know I'll blow it up if I do LOL.
I have new advantages with this quad-coreQ-8400, but the fact that my multiplier range is limited to 6 through 8, coupled to a motherboard that won't go over 415MHz means I'm at 3.3GHz, -period! I don't think it's even working hard at 1.12VCore.

Once I finally found the ways to make the E-5300 start to shine, (with a lot of support and nudging from Omari), I had it to 4.0 for a while, almost stable. If I'd had time to balance the voltages, and the nerve to stay at 1.4 volts...

Anyways, congrats on a great O.C.!

if you want your quad to really shine you should get a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3 motherboard

This. This. This!!

I'm going to pick me up a GA-EP45 as well later on. Darn cheap and OC a ton!
I see no reason going to S1366 or S1156 yet.

Omari,

I'm unclear on the clock differences, this has an advertised FSB of 1600, my MSI has 400 MHz max. Or is that 1600 to be compared to my current 1333 "system bus". Two radically different performance ratios.

400Mhz = 1600FSB (rated FSB) or (4x400) since the bus on your CPU is quad piped,

anyway, you said that your MB can't go over 415 and thats why i recommended a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3 since their FSB can reach 460-500+ (2000 rated FSB) more often than not
