I'm really surprised by these numbers, but you have an E5300 VT-x, which I do not, maybe that's why you have come faster. I have the same motherboard and it does not allow me to reach more than 280 x 13 stable.
Please tell me how you set the bios settings, maybe I do something wrong.

welcome to the thread mate

the reason for your good overclock is that you've got two things going for you

1- A very low VID E5300, cause your voltage is just amazing for the speed you have
2- A very good DRAM PC2-5300 than can reach 950Mhz stable which 99% of PC2-5300 can't

If you had a good motherboard you can reach 4.3-4.4Ghz stable using a decent CPU cooler

Ive boosted the northbridge voltage to the max allowed value, increased the south bridge voltage, locked PCI-E to 100mhz, and yet it refuses to go past 3ghz. If i try, prime95 will spit errors at me within an hour of starting the run. Of course it may have something to do with my less than stellar board.

ill get it booted soon and get the CPU-Z of the minor overclock i managed to put on it
Welcome to the thread

show me a picture of CPU-Z showing your CPU core voltage value @ 3.1Ghz

Alright, firing up the main rig now

EDIT: done. And actually, the reason right now its not at or above 3ghz is because i am trying to keep it stable. The memory aint the problem despite the fact im running it 38% faster than stock. Its got enough juice to keep it happy (1.925v, sticks are spreaderless and are warm, but not hot to the touch)

Want more?

Seems like something wrong here in your system profile says 940Mhz. memory speed, but with 15% oveclock (200 to 230 FSB) your memorys should be running at 767Mhz. You must check this first. If you take a look the octavius config. you see that memory speed gives to him 3.7Ghz in cpu and requieres 285 FSB minimum.
Down the memory ratios.

Thats as low as i can take it. i got 2 options with this ram, 3:5 ratio and 1:2 ratio. Right now im at 1:2, memory is at 920 and stable. Its not the ram thats the problem. Its something else and im trying to figure out what the hell it is. Also let me update my sig rig for the new speeds.

well maybe you got a high VID CPU, raise the CPU voltage to 1.28 in CPU-Z and test for stability again

Oh and your DRAM being warm to the touch doesn't mean that its not stable, 99% of PC2-5300 DRAM (667Mhz) can only reach 830Mhz or 850Mhz max if you are lucky

the max fsb the mobo can handle is 333

could i get a decent OC with such a set up?

thank you omari, sdgo the problem with this board is asus didnt want to give its users in a budget board what can be seen in more expensive boards. They made the settings confusing on purpose to confundle us, for example the ram settings(depending on your ram) for me are {800;667} but what this actually means is, i think it was, 3:5 and 1:2. With a vid mod this board can do everything we need. i think you dont need to adjust the n-bridge volts because asus claims it reaches 400mhz oc and 333 stock. try adjusting ram to 667 and booting to windows if it doesnt its, imo, the ram. i can could be sadly mistaken ofcourse.
