Btw, Have u tried 333x9 (with lower multplier)?
and then u can increase the multiplier step by step and make a benchmark comparison and showing it to us
actually, most E5300s have an FSB wall around 330-350, mine is anything past 343Mhz, even if the E5300 has a high Multiplier of 13, its still limited by the chipset FSB itself, so don't expect like 333x13 because that would require a voltage that would fry most 45nm CPUs...you are considered lucky if you can get 12x333 (4Ghz) with a v-drop of 1.4 provided you can achieve that using a good aftermarket cooler and a max temp of 70C @ 100% CPU load

Hi there,

New on the E5300. I'm running an EP45-UD3L, and i've pushed it to 4GHz on essentially stock setting, except for the MCH latch.

Temps on benchmarks don't exceed 55degrees celcius.

These are my settings:
CPU Host Freq: 308
MCH Freq Latch: 200
System Memory Multiplier: 2.66C
CPU Vcore: 1.2875
CPU Termination: 1.2
CPU PLL: 1.55
CPU Ref: 0.805
MCH Core: 1.1
MCH Ref: 0.76

I'm a noob at overclocking, so i'm not really sure what all these things are. What i'm sure about is that i'm not pushing the voltage on the CPU and its still running fine.

Is there anything I need to be worried about? The system is running FULLY STABLE at 4.0GHz.

Regards
p.s - I'm going to reduce the host freq and increase the Freq Latch

first of all

welcome to the club

now, the results you are getting are....strange...so please supply the following information just to make sure that your are not damaging your CPU

1- What HSF (heatsink & fan) are you using on the E5300
2- install and run a program called real temp then post your CPU temp when its ideal and when its under 100% load
3- Install and run a program called prim95 then check the program above (real temp) to see whats your CPU temp under 100% load + to test its stability
4- install and run a program called CPU-Z to see whats your CPU vcore is under windows

Hi all, i received my new system two days ago, these are the specs:

-C2D e5300

-Asus P5KPL-AM SE mobo

-2 gig. kingston ram pc6400 cl5

-oem 500w 80+ power supply

-etc.

I'm a bit confused because (as i make always) i monitor the temps (nothing of o.c.) with these 2 programs: Speedfan 4.40 and RealTemp 3.4 (both the lastest) with all bios settings by default and the case is that at full load speedfan shows temps of 75-85 degrees and Realtmp reaches 70-74...i thought that was no possible since termal compound is correctly applied and the cooler is alive around 1700 +/- rpm.

Well, i have seem that the mobo sets an vcore of 1,34 v to he processor what is fairly high, and knowing this i understand that temps can be high, but so much? well is reference cooler... another possibility is that speedfan readings are wrong (with this mobo) and i have not a right idea about configuring Tj in Realtmp...some people say 100º other 85-90º...well doesn't matter because the cpu always reaches high temps.

The worst thing is that this ******* mobo doesn't allow changing vcore....*****...could you recommend some software to change vcore? Should i change my mobo?...another strange thing is that the delta between idle temps and full load is 40º!! so i think something is going bad, because is not normal 35-40 idle /75-80 full...

this mobo is a piece of *****...i don't believe that while i can touch vtt, fsb term. volt, northbridge volt, etc i am unable to lower this ******* vcore...

I need some help guys, my new rig will be off till i resolve this.

Thanks in advance!

P.D: excuse me for posting this here, but i have no time i work too much

welcome to the E5300 club mate

the first thing that you should do is to change that P.O.S Asus P5KPL-AM SE, this trash is not meant for overclocking.

if you want a cheap/decent one, buy the same motherboard i have GA-EP41-UD3L, its perfect for Overclocking the E5300 and costs around 60USD, it provides advanced options for overclocking 800/1066FSB CPUs like the E5300/C2D but isn't recommended for overclocking anything with an 1333 FSB or above (1600)

But...if you want a more future proof motherboard, you would have to go with the GA-EP45-UD3L or the GA-EP45-UD3P, they cost around 120-140USD, and both are truly the ultimate LGA775 Motherboards as they can handle overclocking any dual/quad core 800-1600FSB CPUS with ease not to mention PCI-E 2.0 and ICH10 SB

Thanks for reply, well, i do not expect a lot from her, but leaving oc apart it should be possible control vcore because (i think but not 100%) i'm frying my cpu... again i have done various tests, now under win xp (i did before in win7 64) i.e. Cinebench, EVerest, prime 95, etc...and reaching 80 to 95 degrees...i don't belive this man.

If i can't resolve this problem i will return this p.o.crap, but i want try some programs to change voltage via software...if you know one...

I have heard good things of the models you said, and i agree them are better than p5kpl, excuse my poor english but i'm spanish...

mate..your MB is applying much more voltage than needed, and concerning the temperatures...oh my god....don't ever run a benchmark or stress program again....you got to 4Ghz alright...but your Voltage might be 1.5v because your MB sets voltage to AUTO and your temps are 80-95C?

1- STOP OVERCLOCKING
2- RETURN EVERYTHING TO DEFAULT IN THE BIOS
3- NEVER OVERCLOCK AGAIN UNTIL YOU GET A BETTER MB

does your MB come with a program to control CPU vcore? or FSB speed & voltage, PCI-E speed?

if not..then just change the damn MB cause i think that you already damaged your CPU with these temperatures

The E5300 is a great CPU, you are guaranteed a 1Ghz Overclock from 2.6GHz to 3.6Ghz and thats with air cooling only...but i got mine to 3.75 100%....

What i am trying to say is that your crap MB isn't worthy of such a great CPU and it won't cost you more than 60USD to get the full potential out of it...even less if you can return your MB and exchange it for a the model i told you about

oh and your English is just fine
