Under $300, dual core is the opteron 165. Stock 1.8 GHz, but if you get a good mobo I'm sure you can do wonders.

I would definitely get the 154 over the FX57. The only difference is that the 57 has unlocked multipliers.

Anywho, Opty 148, 165, or SD 3700+ / 3800+ X2.
