Failing Prime after 10+ minutes?

Thread Starter
Im failing Prime 95 after a decent amount of time, somtiems 25 minutes. i was doing 240MHZ, 3.6 GHZ, at first i upped Vcore 1 step, then i did 2 steps. i can get up to 3.3 without touching Vcore so i dont think more Vcore is going to help. It is saying rounding was .5 and it was expected less than .4.

Is there anything else i can try? i was all excited because i think my ram is stable and working now but im still getting errors... ERRR.

Can that error be anything or is it always CPU related?

oh i know, but on my brothers comp, the AMD 64 3000+, i overclocked it to 2.2 from 1.8 and when it needed volts, it would fail within a minute if not less. And same with mine, but now its running longer, its been running for 30 minutes now with 2.5-3-3-7 ram timmings. im hoping it works, and i guess that error can be ram related as well?

Think i got it workin good. I would just like to say, that my brother has mushkin enhanced ram, 38 bucks on newegg.com for 512 stick and it is running at 245MHZ with 2.65 volts, seems like a great deal to me! prime95 stable for 12 hours too, i dont get it must be a good stick lol, thanks for all the help guys.

EDIT, Ugh, scratch that im not stable, failed after an hour and 15 minutes, DAMNIT! i guess ill have to put the timmings to 2.5-4-4-8, seems odd for only 240 MHZ on this ram but whatever i guess.

bump/update

How bad is it for our intels to run a devider? im at 3.8 GHZ with a devider and im stable. But when im 1:1 ratio i crash at 2.5-4-4-8 timmings with max volts, theres nothing else i can do, i am dissatisfied with the ram performance but oh well i guess...

Your mems are ddr400 tho? on 3.8 you run your mems at ddr507 on 1:1 so i'm not surprised they cant handle that. Running a devider makes everything more stable and sometimes running slower but in lower timings give more performance. You can check your mem performance on different deviders and freqs with SiSoft Sandra or Everest.

Well, the thing is ya its high speed but ive read 100s of reviews for this stuff, anandtech.com has one saying they got it to DDR557 top speed. my brother is running cheap mushkin at DDR490 right now rock stable at stock timings 3-3-3-8. ima maybe have to run a devider though because im at 3.9 GHZ stable on a devider and like you said, ill have my ram at 208 at that speed and it will be able to do 2-2-2-5 again. I always heard devider is bad for intel but OK on AMD, but idk thanks for the help i might end up doin that.

Try running Memtest86. That will identify RAM as your issue or eliminate it from consideration. Your RAM really should be able to be pushed to 250 MHz and beyond without too much trouble, especially if it's v1.0.

ya, i agree. I got errors at 240MHZ with 2.5-3-3-8 timmings, went to 4-4-8 and it was OK for 45 minutes but how much i can go beyond 240 idk yet. Doesnt seem like im getting great performance out of them. Also what is a good Sandra score? i got 6100 at 260MHZ and 5600 with a 5:4 ratio at 260FSB (208 DDR)

YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS PRIME95 STABLE FOR 11 HOURS AT 250FSB!!!! SCORE!

The ram is owning, 5900 on sandra soft. i think thats good cause my brothers 512 stick running at 244 is only 3400 on that benchmark. its mushkin. IDK how to get his higher but my scores are awesome. thanks for all the help, any tips or feedback on that benchmark would be nice! i did a CPU benchmark and it was like 10,000 for first number and 6000 for the second, i might do it again if thats confusing. heres a SS of my prime test!

Edit, 2 things. My 12Volt rail gets to 11.89 when running prime, is that ok? Also is that prime blend test for 11 hours mean everything, or could i still have an error say in memtest86 and or a different type of test with prime95?
