You want the voltage rated to be as close to, but not less then what's being used. You also want to use the high uF if you have a choice. Radio shack has crap for caps. Ebay is a good place for cheap ones. The 6.3v would work great for GPU and MEM phases. Everybody wants to much for their high uf 2.5v caps.

The red squares are around the area I'm talking about. The size of the circle and the 2 dots of solder make me believe caps should have been there. Would it be possible to solder some caps there and get better oc potential?

The single big circle isnt for cap.The other two on the square u put are for 16v caps along with 2 spots on the other side of the PCB that u missed!
I have added caps from the moment i bought it but from the back side!

I dont think they will help on earthy OCing...However if u bump the volts very high, over 1,5volts since u got water on your card, then they night add a little stability on the input voltage of the phases(12volts)
But to have more possible gains u should add 2,5volts/820+uF caps,1 on each pahse as i have done.(the 3 black caps together right before the core).
These add good stability on the voltage output to the core!

What are those square things you have on the 5770?
For caps as long as the voltage is higher its alright (is closer better?) but higher uF the better? I bought a bag of assorted caps from Radioshack and got:
6.3v 3300uF
35v 1000uF
2 x 35v 1000uF (the leads come out of each end though)
25v 220uF
50v 2.2uF
10v 330uF
100v 1uF

Would it be best to use the one 6.3v 3300uF now and get these? Would 8200uF be worth the extra cost?

The 6800 uF caps would be fine.

6800
I have some 3300uf 6.3v caps in the mail (should be here monday). Trying to find my max clocks for my 5770 atm. How much voltage should I give the 5770 (its under water with a ek full cover block, silver ramsinks on the back)

Just remember electrolytic capacitors have a defined positive and negative. Put them in right or they will pop/explode! Fun stuff.

You should get some capacitors like the one on this board. Their usually just in power delivery system. Replace them all. Haha.

Well the 5770 is dead atm, so I'll update this after RMA. I got my hands on a 8600gt in the meantime
