What is the highest spec system i could end up running on a 300W PSU?

Not very high man. Maybe an Athlon XP with a low end video card and 3 fans max.

Thought around there. Wasnt planning to get too high on anything (pci-e mobo). How 'low end' is that graphics card?

Might check out the prices on a slightly better PSU...But i really could not be bothered to jsut junk this thing away. need to find a use for everything.:S

Well, I'd say a 9800 Pro at best. I used to have a 350w PSU and it ran just fine with my XP 2400+, but when I upgraded my CPU mobo and added a few fans, the 350w gave up on life and died. My X-Connect is a really good PSU, it has 35 amps on the 12v rail, I bet the one you have now has no more than 18, prolly less than that.
