wow, you manage to see all the way to norway? ^^ dont worry, i ordered one today, 580W with leds ^^ but is that the problem?

well i got something to tell. i didnt manage to access my BIOS after a day of computing, with restart. I thought it was too warm. Guess i was right. After 15 minutes blowing with a heatless hairdryer at my heatsink i still felt heat at the top. But when i booted now and accesed bios, i managed it. I set my clock frequencies back to standard until my new CPU cooler arrives. Since im not using corecenter i dont have any In-OS program that can monitor CPU temps (Cpu-z could use this ) Any suggestions?
But that may not be the problem, it may be my harddrive, or sth like that. And i forgot, which SATA ports are which (which set are 1&2 and 3&4), it may be them? Is it that important?
Or maybe its sth else? My FSB was at 235, Ram thing at 166, and HTT at 4x.

Buttmud and tytlyf, youre both asking me to pm u and stuff. I would appreciate it if we kept the discussion here, because i feel like talking openly about it other pplz can hear and learn from it too

i never asked you to pm me..I dont know where you got that from.
Just go into your bios and look at your cpu temp if you dont want to use a program.

but anyways... my reason for overclocking, was, i will soon get a x850xt pe; i wonder if my processor is good enough to generate the graphics and maintain a steady FPS in f.ex. Bf2?
Dont bother, bf2 should be fine with that spec. Remember that overclocking can potentially make your cpu unstable causing it to shutdown/crash when it gets too hot. Overclocking also uses more power, so you could find your bill a little bit surprising =) my advice is try bf2 with the x850xt pe if its still too slow then revert to overclocking

hmm...im a bit sceptic. A friend had a 7800GTX and a 3500+ was stopping him alot. Maybe thats true, and it will apply for me too just in another way, or im just paranoid. Thank you all for your help, ill continue using this thread if any more questions arrive

Well, just because a PSU is 580W that is no indication of its quality, brand matters A LOT, so would you mind telling us which PSU (make and model, IE: mine is an OCZ PowerStream 600W) and CPU cooler you got so that can give me a better idea of where you are. Also, if you try:

FSB = 260
CPU multi = 10
HTT x 3
vcore 1.550
Mem divider 166 (233)
mem voltage 2.7

That should get you to 2.6GHz. I have not tested this because I don't own an AMD system, lol. But if you are concerned about temps, keep that vCore at 1.5 and if you are unstable try 2.8 on the vDimm.

EDIT/// a 7800GTX is about twice as fast as a X850XT.....just so you know, believe me, a 3200+ will be fine for that card but no harm done in overclocking .

well...my friend told me that x850xt pe is pretty much closer to 7800GTX than halfway...but he lies alot so why the hell should i trust him? ^^

my new ordered CPU cooler http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/...x=165&code=005
would be a shame if i cant overclock with that monster ^^

And my new ordered PSU http://www.hipergroup.com/English/pr...hpu-4b580.html
never heard of them but komplett (the shop) told me this was good stuff

must thank you all, especially buttmud, tytlyf and remonster ill return here once ill start OCing again
meanwhile ill be helping pplz with their GFX cards altho im rather "stupid" when it comes to PCIe and high end PCIe cards

260x4=1040, and since HTT speed really doesn't help ANYTHING at all there is no point risking it maybe being unstable at 1040MHz so x3 at 780 is safer, unless he bumps up the LDT/HTT voltage to like 1.6/1.7 again, to be safe. Personally I would keep it at x3 anyways, even if I was only at 220FSB since there is really no point.

And yes, the X850 is more than half the performance of a 7800GTX but I was exaggerating, my point is, a 3200+ is FINE.

I know HTT speed doesn't do jack, and it only needs to be set in a range so that the computer is stable. HTT x4 has a much greater chance of being stable than your X3 780. It's a 1,000mhz HTT and the figure should be as close to that as possible + or -. My recommendation was +40 over default, your's is -220. Think about it. Maybe if it was a newcastle your recommendation would be more beneficial..
