Hi, You will not need a new motherboard aslong as the interface of the card is the same as the video card slot on your current motherboard. The x300se comes in either PCI-E or AGP, the AGP card is x8 and your motherboard has a AGP x4 slot. You wont notice a huge difference because the x300se will not utilize a huge amount of bandwidth. We were all new once, dont be afraid to ask any questions.
x300se AGP= Will work with your current motherboard.
x300se PCI-E= Will not work with your current motherboard.
Do you have a link to the card you purchased?
