some of them come with a mounting bracket, im guessing that yours didnt. but dont just use regular tape cause you need something that conducts the heat, otherwise the ramsinks are pretty much pointless

ya, this stuff i have was made for heatsinks, i bought it awhile ago but i never needed it. they stuck on there good, im running the x850pro now! and it OWNS. im sure ill be posting questions about overclocking/unlocking soon but for now ima enjoy this sucker!

EDIT, first question, i never had this running without my zalman, what are normal load temps? im at 36 idle right now, seems pretty good. My load was about 56 after 10 minutes. maybe it will get higher, my brothers stock cooled x700pro gets up to 79 so i think my temps are ready for a good OC! hehehe

After playing CSS for 45 minutes my load was 56C. is that a decent temp with a zalman copper/aluminum cooler? or should i try and reset it maybe?

Edit, also should i of pluged the zalman into the plug on the card? or is the way i did it (just to the motherboard) ok?

yea those temps sound fine. i myself have never had a zalman gpu cooler so i wouldnt know what to expect of it, but overall youre good to oc. as you probably already know gpus run alot hotter than cpus so thats fine. id just try not to have it much higher than 80* for long periods of time

great thanks for the help. Im pretty excited about this card, the 9800pro did run CSS ok but this thing is a beast. And my 9800pro being with a locked bios made me dislike it lol.

On stock cooling, my unlocked X850 Pro just above X850 XT speeds gives me 64C full load, thats with the dynamic fan set at 80% for that temp.

I'm running CSS at 6xAA and 16xAF, 1280x1024, max settings. Runs great, but with HDR (de_nuke the only map to have HDR in CSS so far), I gotta disable the AA.

My 9800 Pro could run it at that res max settings but no aa and tri filtering.

The biggest improvment I've seen is in Cod2, from hardly playable to fully playable.
