Need RAM

Thread Starter
Hey guys, i'm running 1.5 gigs of ram on my computer right now. Two are AMP 512k dual channel and one is patriot 512, so since there are three its running single channel. I'm looking to get 2X 1gig dual channel ram sticks for my computer. I'm looking at Corsair from newegg. Can someone find me the best set i can get? Thats 2 gigs dual channel. And I also got another question. like i said earlier i'm running 1.5 gigs single channel dual to different types of ram, now do u think i will notice that big of a difference if i'm running 3 gigs dual channel? I mean like would it speed up my computer as well as run more processes without lagging? Thanks for the feedback

You can't run 3 gigs in dual-channel. More RAM will certainly boost performance and help in memory-intensive games like BF2 and all MMORPG's. The best Corsair 2GB kit, IMO, is the Corsair TWINX2048-3500LLPRO. Take a look at that.

hey, well you might be able to get it to run dual channel w/ your config... but you'll probably be happy w/ 2x1gb. You don't need more than 2gb of RAM... you probably won't fully use all 2gb anyway. by sticking w/ 2 sticks you will be able to run dual channel for sure, you'll be able to run a 1T command rate and if you ever want to, you'll have the option of overclocking.

That said I would reccomend you choose a different brand. Try g.skill or OCZ. both brands have better performing 1gb sticks or RAM.
Furthermore, Corsair is getting out of the high performance RAM business... and their customer service is quickly going down the drain. I had a pair of Corsair 3200C2 that I had to RMA. the first time I RMA'd them Corsair screwed up and shipped them back to me ground after they promised 3 day. I got the RAM and put it in my computer... the new RAM died less than 24 hours after I got it. So I sent it back. I got the new pair and it worked. however, when I posted in Corsair's IC inquiry thread to see what IC's my new RAM used (3200C2 uses different IC's for each revision) the RAMGuy told me that he would not respond to me and then one of the forum moderators deleted my post. Corsair has a forum to help people... yet all I got from it was shut down... now, if you ask me that is the worst customer service... when the tech support guy explicitly says that he will not help you just because.

get the OCZ Platinum PC4000 or the g.skill extreme series PC4000

I bought the pc4000 stuff for $199 last week and I am completely satisfied with it. BF2 has never been better and my overclock is more stable @240MHz.

But the timings on the G Skills are lower than the Corsair though, the coursair is 2-3-3-6.

Just look what solos2 had to say about Corsair . If they are really getting out of the high end ram buissness then i wouldnt touch it with a barge pole ..I would go OCZ ,Mushkin or Geil .Timmings are not an imediate problem if your gonna O/c then your gonna tighten those timmings anyway
