Power supply for x850xt

Thread Starter
I need to know if a 300watt power supply will run a x850xt with 2 HD's, tuner card, cd burner, & dvd burner I know it recommends a 300 or better watt PS. But would like to know if anyone out there is running a similar setup. My current graphics card a ATI x800xl AIW is working just fine.

I would say no. And wow that your xl can handle it. Just get a new psu, it shouldnt be a big deal if you are willing to spend XXX$ on a 850xt.

No, it is not safe running that setup with such an underpowered PSU. I doubt it would be able to boot, but if it did it could have the potential to dammage any of the components. For that setup I recomend at least a 500w PSU. (I like the one in my specs)

hey, i just had the same problem. Ive bought a x850xt PE and i had 1HDD and 2dvdroms to power with my 350W. The fact is that if thats two low for me, then youve got WAY too low. Buy a 500W+ like i just did (I bought 580W with 2 neons;D)

You would be fine if the wattage was a 400W, because thats enough to handle all your components, and even another hard drive or 2.

What you have to check for is the Amps. Make sure it has a MINIMUM of 20A on the +12v rail, and you should be good.

A 500W with 17A +12v is worse then a 350W with 22A +12v.

Also try to get it from a reputable manufacturer like Enermax, Antec, ePower, or else they'll probably just lie about the specifications anyways.
