6200 Overclocking

Thread Starter
Hey, I have a e-Geforce 6200 256mb ddr 64 bit nv44 video card. I have been able to get a stable overclock of 440/500 with just a fan. Anything over that, I start seeing glitches and ****.

Can I get more than that? Anyone have with a 6200?

Thanks

The Gigabyte GeForce 6200 managed an impressive 70MHz core overclock and a 160MHz memory overclock. This overclock resulted in massive performance gains and did not sacrifice stability in anyway.

The “Detect Optimal Frequencies” gave us an end result of 366MHz/635MHz from the original 300MHz/500MHz. We believed that the card could give us more and decided to push a little further until we reached 553Mhz/653MHz! Absolutely jaw dropping! To be exact, the core was overclocked an additional 253MHz and the memory another 153MHz. All this was done with the stock cooler and without any voltage modifications on the card. It was totally astonishing and we did not encounter any graphics corruption during game play at those speeds.
The video card mentioned above has a 128bit memory bus.

Well, if you inprove the cooling you may be able to get a little more out of the ram, but unless you acually inprove the fan on it or put as5 I don't think you'll get much out of the core.

Ic. What's as5? Right now I have 2 external fans working on the card. The card only has a small heat sink on it. What kind of cooling power do I need to get this thing juiced out?

Thanks

AS5 is artic silver 5, which is the best thermal compund and drops your temps by somthing like 3-5c so it is a great addition to any gpu or cpu.

My 6200 is at 465/665, with AS5 on GPU and homemade PCI cooler made up of two 80mm fans attached to one another, blowing on the ram chips and GPU heatsink.

is attached.

damn man those are crazy numbers you got. Mine will start to mess up after 500 mem, was yours doing that before you had all that cooling on?
I think before I added those 2 x 80mm fans, I was able to get 600 mem speed, and 425 core. But my case is pretty cool since it's winter time; case temp is around 22C-25C all the time, so that also helps me OC.

Also memory overclocking depends on the type of ram chips you have (hynix, samsung, winbond, etc.) Check your ram chips and see who the manufacturer is and go to their site to see the specs on your ram chips.

I had Hynix 5ns chips which come 400mhz stock on 2.5V and can reach 700mhz on 2.8V. Here's the specs on my ram chips: http://www.hynix.com/datasheet/eng/d...DU561622CT.jsp

Since you have the same GPU as mine, the nv44a, I say you should be able to get atleast 450mhz out of the core if you add some kind of cooling to the big heatsink on the 6200.

Anyways, goodluck fellow 6200'er.

Srry I don't think it's possible to check the ram without opening the case, unless you have a "see-through" side panel for your case.
