Finally hit 2.5GHz - Can I go Higher??

Thread Starter
I could get too 2.5 GHz before, but it was unstable. My new PSU came today and now with that, 2.5 is stable

Click Me
/\\ thats my settings as of now.

Just wondering, Is 2.5GHz tha max i'll ever get? (without changing my system)
It might be the memory, because the HTT can go quite high (320MHz bootable, not stable), but I have to use a CPU/12 divider other wise it doesnt boot :/
Anyone else with similar systems think this clock is about right? It's just I've seen others with 2.6GHz CPU's

Oh, on another note, thanks goes to AMD SLI Guru for all his(or hers I don't know lol) help.

what is the fastest your memory can run stable? Tell me that figure and I will get you higher..
as far as the cpu, what vcore (cpu voltage) are you using to get to 2.5?

Yeah, you can go higher.. I have my 3000+ @ 2.7ghz with almost stock voltages and this exact stepping other people have hit 3ghz on ait with it. Just keep itching your clock higher and higher till you find your highest stable clock. Make sure you do some tests to make sure its stable, Superpi prime95 sp2004 etc etc

My memory is very poor. It doesnt like going over 210MHz. So normally I keep it below that, just for stability. It can go over, but theres no point. Its :turd:

I set my voltages as high as my motherboard deemed "safe". I don't want to melt my CPU now do I

So my votages are.... hold on i forgot. I think i got motherboard monitor hold on

Right, my

mobo voltage is : 1.65
Memory voltage is : 2.7

My CPU voltage is: Over VID 5.0%
CPU VID is : Start up (automatic)

But using MM5, it looks like my CPU is running at 1.44V

Oh btw, whats CPU VID??

cpu vid is your vcore, so you haven't changed it..
The cpu voltage over VID 5% I'm not familiar with, see if you can leave that at auto or 0.

First learn how to safely adjust your cpu voltage, I dont want to throw numbers out because I'm not familiar with those settings with your board...
If you can find out how to properly adjust your vcore, then I will help some more..Pull out the manual on the board or see if you can get more info.

After you figure it out, I will get you higher, probably 2.6 easy.

There's something i was wondering about for a while now:
How can you possibly control the multiplier if it was suppose to be factory locked.

you can only lower the multiplier if its locked, so his is 9 stock...and can go lower...only the FX series chips can increase..

Well, it looks like cpu vid is the vcore as you said.

I think its just so you can fine tune the voltage settings, instead of having to use the 0.025V increments used for CPU VID.

Ok, i know what to do

So what should i do? increase the votage by like 0.1V and try Overclocking again?

Mine is only locked for values above the factory default (a multi of 9)
I can still use any multiplier from this one down though.
