Good Upgrade?

Thread Starter
Just curious as to if this GeForce 6600 is any good? I want to upgrade from my mindless purchase of the BFG 5500 PCI OC to this one its a 256 AGP GeForce 6600, it's only 124 bucks so I want to make sure it's good...http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...Fencoding=UTF8

I would go with a 6600gt (i am biased.). It may only have 128mb but it is GDDR3 ram. And it is Fast.

The best possible bang for you buck is the new 6800 GS. It has high clock speeds than the 7800 GT, 12 pipelines, 256mb GDDR3. Only $200:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150118

If you unlock the addition 4 pipelines in this baby you have yourself a 7800 in my opinion. (For $100 less)

If you live in the USA and you want to get parts off the internet, use Newegg, they have excellent customer service, selection, and prices.

As for the card, i would suggest getting a 6800gs as well.

actually i'd rather buy a 6800 gt because he might not have agp first of all and second of all 60-70 bux more but has 4 more pipe lines and pretty high clock speeds not as high but the pipe lines make it alot faster. But the 6800gs is still a very nice card but pci express only i think

I would suggest getting a 6600gt if you buy it from the forsale section or ebay you can get one around 100 wich will own a 6600, Im actualy thinking of getting one my self, also you guys since he posted a 6600 i would think he is looking for a cheap but effective upgrade wich puts the 6800gt out of the question and lack of pci-e puts the 6800gs way out of the question.

Wait, a 6800gs is almost a 7800?? If you unlock the pipes, it will be pretty much a 7800 for less cash??? Holy crap, I'm sending back the card I just got(x800gto2 which would unlock to x850xtpe) to get the 6800gs if thats true.

your better off with the 6600gt, although it will only have 128mb and not 256,the memory is twice as fast and that will make a differnce and the card is only a few dollars more, litterally. and it will blow ur standard 6600 out of the water, hands down! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ubmit=Property
