Hi guys.I've just bought a Sapphire HD5850 and I would like to join this club.

I don't have to specifically ask to be added to the roster here do I? I figured my post from 2 days ago would get me in.

I sure hope XFX sends me a card that will keep pace with my Sapphire. I doubt it though....a regular XFX 4890/1GB is trash compared to my Sapphire. I told them they should send me a Black Edition as a replacement....we'll see.

Nice cards, especially the Sapphire.

Well the memory on the Sapphire 5870 is rated at 1250mhz so not many owners do much better than 1300mhz. However, you should be able to do more than 900 mhz on the core. More info from you on how you are overclocking the card (methods, programs, voltages), would help others in helping you.

The first advice I can give is to overclock the core first, to its max and than start increasing the memory.

I'm using EVGA Precision v1.9.3 to OC my cards.
The thing is that when i push the slider more than 900Mhz and push apply it keeps going back to 900Mhz.

My friend has Asus HD5870 and he OCed to 1033Mhz 1309Mhz with no problem.

Use either:
Catalyst control Center (CCC)
MSI Afterburner
AMD GPU Clock Tool

On stock voltage the 5870 does only around ~910 core/1250 mem and with voltage increases, people see from ~900-1050mhz, depending on how lucky you are.

Try downloading this and using this to OC.
http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm
When you have it installed, go to your MSI Afterburner folder locate the CFG file named MSIAfterburner. Open it with notepad then go all the way down to "EnableUnofficialOverclocking" and change the value from 0 to 1. Save, then overclock

I've got 3 sapphires which are:

X1650 Pro - AGP
X1650 Pro - PCI-E
X1650 XT - PCI-E

I bought one of the PCI-E ones new and got the other two in a job lot of graphics cards although not sure if the AGP one is working but i'll keep in case i get an AGP compatible computer where i can test it and maybe bake it if it doesn't work.
