You will be fine with your E8400. The E8000 classes of dual-core Intel are great for the HD 5000 series and gaming. Our cpus will push the 5850 with no problems and no cpu bottlenecking. The only place where we are at a disadvantage vs. Quad core cpus is in 3D mark benchmarks where, cpu scores mark up half the total score. Imo, high clocked dual core cpus still rule in gaming since most current games still only utilize (2) cores. Others will disagree.

That's a little warm for a wolfdale; I try to stay under 62C. Also I only clock to 3.6G on a daily basic for normal gaming and oc over 4G only for benching. I hope you are not living at 4.3G since at that speed and those temps will definitely shorten your cpu's life.

@BlackHoleSon
You keep a clean Sapphy 4870.

I think my 4870x2 is dead. I might try to "bake" her for a final attempt to save it. if not time to move on to 5xxx, so Im going to sell my 4870 which is working purrrrfect right now running my rig. I'm still inclined to go w/ Sapphire, but Im keeping my options opened to other manufactures. I cant personally speak to Sapphire cs since its out of question for my possible dead 4870x2, got it off ebay

edit/update: Success! for now, baked my dead Sapphire 4870x2 for 10 mins @ 200c/400f and she has a new lease in life. Will see how long it will hold.
