is this pc any good - Page 3

Go to www.overclockers.co.uk or www.microdirect.co.uk i use these all teh time and had no problems .But if your whole buget is for a pc +monitor+ kb/m then that is pushing it a bit .but you could build a good 939 set up form that probably best way would be an Opteron 1 series if you could find one

At the moment an Opteron 144-148 or 3700+ seems to be the cpu of choice with either a dfi mobo or Asus A8N Deluxe if you are gonna o/c .A good Graphics card like a 6600GT is a must. Ram, A lot of people in this forum like corsair or Geil but mushkin , crucial ,Patriot all make good quality ram ,A choice of SATA or ATA hard drive .FIrst build maybe an ATA harddrive as these are easier to start out with .A good hsf if your gonna o/c + your optical drives

Celeron D 341 Processor
2.93GHz, 533MHz FSB, 0.25MB Cache
256MB DDR RAM
80GB Hard Disk Drive
Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD-RW Drive
64MB SIS 661 FX Graphics
8-In-1 Media Card Reader
6 USB connections
3 PCI Slots
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

and it is £299.99 from dixons

thankyou
The short answer is probably yes; It would lag horrendously unless you upgraded to atleast 768mb or ram and a new videocard, Geforce 5 series or newer (or 9600+ ATI). I played on an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ with 768mb pci2100 ram and a Geforce 4 MX440 SE. It wasn't so bad, but I wouldn't reccomend it. The graphics that come with nicer parts are worth the upgrade!

Yes, but you see, it is a little more expensive to get the parts in UK. So a $700 machine in the US is a $800 dollar machine in the UK.

Looks like they have older parts and are charging to much for them.. I would order from a better source. Try some of the links that have been provided for you. Trust me these people here will not steer you wrong. Most people here will know a lot more about PC parts then some of those guys that work in those local shops.. Thats just my personal opinion from experience.
