Help Overcloking a P4 - 3.06 skt 478

Hi, im trying to overclock my pc, im kinda newbie on this, i only know how to overclock or flash a gfx card. I cant increase the fsb or the multiplicator on the BIOS i can only increase the "CPU FREQUENCY" wich is set to 200 (why 200?) i already tried to increase it to 205 and 210 it failed both times.. the pc wouldnt boot

--> temps: mobo/cpu // idle: 24º/34-36º // full: 27º/45º-50º (I still have the stock cooler on the cpu)

--> Cpu-z : Core Speed 3066Mhz // Multiplier : x23 // Fsb: 133mhz // Bus Speed: 533Mhz // Cache 512 // (So where does the 200 Cpu frequency come from anyway?)

You have a ASUS motherboard which is OC friendly. Look for an option that allows you to change your CPU settings. Most of the time the default settings do not allow you to change these settings.

Not sure where 200 is coming from...maybe that is actually the correct number and there's a 2/3 divider on fsb. Look for something like that. I'm guessing it doesn't apply that ratio when it's not on auto but I'm just guessing. Can you set it below 200? Sounds like there's stock (133), and 200 and up...

The "Cpu Frequency" was the fsb after all... i put it to 150 and i got a P4 @ 3449mhz !!! but i didnt even enter windows... so what do i have to do now? lock the memory frequency @ 333mhz?? and how do i lock the pci / agp speeds?? i cant find that... Am i missing something? Safety first i dont want to burn anything... xD

how did u go from fsb of 200 at 3.06ghz to fsb of 150 and now have 3.449 mhz? that sounds wrong to me, and the agp/pci bus should be default.

nope... it was already @ 133, but when i went to the bios and tried to overclock manually it went automaticly to 200 (the middle value between 100-300 xD) default? i read that if i overclock my pc and dont change the agp pci i could hurt them... baddly...

If you notice from his original post that cpu-z reports the FSB to be 133MHz and the multiplier to be 23.
Original speed = 23 x 133 = 3.06 GHz
Oc`ed speed = 23 x 150 = 3.45 GHz

i changed my fsb to 139 and my pc is running @ 3.2 now =) the problem is i couldnt find the pci/agp/sata lock nor the "stop unused pci slot" ... (will this be a problem?) but my Display Adaptar was set to pci and 64mb.... weird? i put it agp and 128 mb...

Well u wont believe it but my temps lowered!! i now get 34º-33º on idle.. and 46º after 3dmark05 (i didnt get it on FULL LOAD yet... but it seems stable...)

i went from 55s to 53s @ superpi :/ not much... i was hoping more...
