Nice work toast, but what's the top fan?

Also get rid of the stock cooler, it's louder than Heeb on pride day

It simply cant be as loud as the 1156 stock fan...that is the only thing i can hear in my case, even if my lite-on is spinning, and that thing is like a blender set to obliterate.

Incidentally does anyone know if I could mount a Xigmatek Dark Knight so the fan vents out the top of my case?

I've just been downstairs with my Beta Evo. Has anybody noticed that the bottom clearance is about 5/32 inch? It's less than 0.5 cm, for heaven's sake! How is a PSU going to get airflow through there? With the screwed-in stock filter (remove it before you use it, IMO), the PSU will be drawing in air from the case as well.

Since the PSU has its own grill, I figure the best thing to do is to cut the holey space open to reduce obstruction. But it is clear that I will need to raise the bottom of the case a smidge.

I've also decided to remove the HD drive cage. Although my front fan (tentatively a Gentle Typhoon 1150) can push air into that cage, and a little bit out, putting a pull fan on the other side merely ends up with the pull fan trying to draw through those little metal slots. Since my first drive on this beast is an SSD, with a spinning drive to follow when I am done hotrodding, I don't need a drive cage. And I figure I can put a HD up in the 5.25 bay. Lots of room up there for foam cushions.

The only thing I haven't decided is whether to cut a 4.5-inch hole in the bottom of the case for an additional intake fan. I'll need to offset the hole - the main plenum is 7 inches wide, with a 0.75-inch space behind the MB tray. It's not a metric space; it's right at three quarters of an inch.

Here's a Q for you M59 and Gamma owners: how wide is the space behind your MB tray?

I can only give you an approximate estimate because Im lazy. The back space can easily take a fatty bundle of cables like a wrapped 24pin cable without even bulging, should be wide enough unless you are trying something naturally untenable.

Thus why I added caster's and raised mine higher off the ground. Next I plan to add more holes, to make the 120mm fan in the PSU breather easier.

hey man, the tape measure is on the other side of the house, and a measurement wouldnt give you an accurate assessment because of the amount of flex in the back panel and the rolled edge of the bottom of the case. I still say its "enough".
