Newbie needs advice/help

Thread Starter
Recently I was introduced to the world of pverclocking by a friend. To cut a long story short....What I have done is tampered with the CPU Host Frequency, mistaking it for something else) and raised it from 133MHz directly to 166MHz and now my machine refuses to boot.I have power but no beep,no display.PLEASE can anyone either advise on solutions or put me out of my misery. Thanx in advance. Damnfool AKA Drew

reset the cmos, to do this switch the jumpers from pins 1 and 2 to pins 2 and 3 to clear it, then put them back on pins 1 and 2 before you boot. or pull out the battery.

Ok, look in your motherboard manual for CMOS reset. There should be a jumper you can move. First, flick your power supply switch or pull out the power cord. Then remove the battery, then move the jumper, then wait 5 seconds, then put the jumper back, then put the battery back in, and finally plug it in again. It should go something like that and that should allow you to boot up again. What it does is set your bios settings to defualt, you overclocked your processor to high.
Try going 3-5 mhz at a time 33 is a big jumper.

Just pop out the battery (WITH THE POWER UNPLUGGED) and wait 10 minutes and pop it back it. You will be all set
