Anyone got a clue? I really want to get this working...

EDIT:

FW has now been updated.

- 30 secs extra boot time.
- cool new unnaccesable buttons in bios.
- says its "initializing devices" but doesnt go past 0 % and then skips and continue to boot.

When I tried my PERC6i for the first time a few days ago, I had no hard drives to connect to it and I received the same error message. Once I plugged an HDD in, I was able to create a virtual disk. That said, I would ask:

Dumb question: can you see your drives on the physical Disk management screen (PD Mgmt)? (ctrl+tab to switch between screens). Maybe the SFF cable is in bad shape?

Also: do you have any other system to test the card there? Most Nforce chipsets don't require any pin modding as far as I've been reading...

Thanks for reply!!

I cannot see the disks on the card BIOS, but they spin up alright, but I have 2x SAS -> 4x sata cables.. and neither works. I read somewhere I needed PASSTHROUGH and not CROSSOVER cables, but Borito4(Cable and card seller) assured me these cables were the right ones.

And I don't have another system to test with unfortuanly .

Thanks again for reply, mate

I think you have the wrong cables if no hard drives are showing up. The first set of cables I had were crossover and they would not show the HDD. I had to get straight through.

I hate to bring up an old post, but I did a search and this is what showed up. Anyway I could not find this pinmod that "the_beast" spoke about. I am getting the same message. The perc 6/i shows a PD of 4 in my case.

Attempting to upgrade to (4) 3TB SAS drives. Maybe the perc 6/i cant handle these drives?
