Sony Announce First Blu-Ray Movies - Page 2

Those are movies they distributed (at least 5 of them they did.. that was from top of head.. I did not research...)

The article outlines a plan of 4 movies a month going up to more a month sometime in 2007.

(On the side, I hate Sony. Hate hate hate. They are the proprietary nightmare that makes MS look like a generous uncle.)

I was a little shocked that was all they could muster from their *own* title lists.

(Please note: I am not arguing formats.. Format/schmormats.. )

Don't worry. The only difference between Blue and reality is about 7 grand in hardware + mostly non-existent 1080i

To release movies "properly", i.e. in hi-def format, takes time. So they should have some return on investment formula in play here, weighing the cost of createing a new hi-def disc vs. projected sales. Which is why I question some of these releases, I just cannot imagine there is demand for Resident Evil Apocalpyse.

Now they could just "dump" what they already have onto hi-def discs, but that will not result in a picture any better than what you have on the current DVD release. A lot of those cheap $5 DVDs you see in the checkout isle are just dumps, especially if they are from the beginning of the DVD era. They look terrible.
