After pondering it a bit .. I thought about us all joining forces and our collective strength in numbers and sending CatalystMaker a REASONABLE wishlist of fixes & features.
We represent a large # of people that are buying their top end products (GPU's, CPU's, Mobo's) and we have a collective bargaining chip that is compelling.
If we can gather our thoughts in a clear and concise manner thats *REASONABLE* we can have a say in the shaping of these drivers and software.
I would propose the Owners of ATI gpu's put together a list of items that would make us feel more confident in continuing to plunk down a lot of hard earned money toward their products in a time of economic downturn where these items are NOT necessities and we CHOSE to patron ATI.
I for one would like to start the list in no particular order with:
1) Honest estimates and updates of driver releases.
2) Eyefinity fixes for the inability of CCC to remember my fourth (virtual or real display) that is not a member of an Eyefinity Group.
3) Honest accounting of when we can expect micro-stuttering to be resolved (example jane Nash in Vantage ).
4) Final resolution to the ATI Overvolt tool not remembering settings after a reboot.
5) OpenCL support packaged into the CCC package/release.
6) Improved Crossefire & CrossfireX scaling.
7) Random grey-screens, vertical lines.
8) Horrible Eyefinity support in 3 monitor mode (blinking/blanking/locking) let alone < 25 fps at 5040x1050
We are several thousand members strong on OCN alone, and most of us have several sites we frequent.
If several thousand people begin posting the same forum post link to Terry and we all Digg the same article and Tweet that it WLL have an impact.
Impact Guaranteed, and if it does not have an impact ?
Then I for one will strongly consider that when I make my next purchase of a CPU/GPU/Mobo with what is commonly considered disposable income on a luxury item for a competitor.
Come on peeps.... Im tired of waiting around with no info on what is important to me after plunking down $1,500USD on graphics alone. My money is just as green with nVidia (pardon the pun) and if they want my business and we have a strong representation .... lets stop whining and start making a lil noise via this thread, twitter , Digg, the executive staff email at ATI/AMD .
If enough of us get involved and call out everyone we know on the heels of Fermi a release we can push them to be CORRECt with us , the people that ultimately subsidize their salaries and if nothing else since high end cards represent a small % of their sales... we represent 99% of their claim to fame and their bragging rights for the GPU manufacturer crown.
Lets sig link this thread , call a friend, cross board post and get what we paid for damnit!
