a8n-sli or a8n32-sli?

Thread Starter
I've read that once you put 2 gpu's in the a8n32 you're only left with 1 pci slot to use. I really need 2 pci slots to use, but if theres a great difference between the 2 I could deal with only 1 slot. The a8n-sli doesnt seem to have this problem. opinions?

While i'm at it, how does this combo sound?

AMD X2 4400+
one of these mobos
4 x 512 Corsair TwinXMS pc3200 (already have)
2 x Seagate Diamondmax 300gb sata - raid
BFG 6800 GT OC x 1 for now, 2 eventually (or should i just get 1 7800?)
Ultra X-infinity 500w sli ready psu
Zalman 9500 (already have)

Personally i would go for the 7800gt, and a non-sli mobo, because one 7800gt will almost be equal to 2x6800gt's.

But if you really want to go SLI then the A8N-SLI Deluxe or Premium is fine.

The only reason people buy the A8N32 is because they think their graphics cards will be faster in true-sli mode, which is sort of true, but it really isn't worth it with 6800GT's

I have an A8N32 SLI, with 2 PNY 7800GT cards, and still have 3 PCI slot left to use.

It may get kinda crammed, but still the slot are there and usable.

Thanks for the info. I'm kind of thinking 7800gt as well due to the heat of 2 6800's.

a few things... first, I'd go with either an evga or xfx 7800GT both cards have lifetime warranty and aren't as overpriced as BFG. Plus, evga uses copper heatsinks on some of their cards so they stay cooler. My evga 7800GT CO has a copper heatsinke and the fan from a 7800GTX (more blades so it pushes more air)

you should really look into a DFI board. it will OC much better. I have the A8N-SLI Deluxe board and there are a few probems with it. While it is a stable board and the bios are easy to navigate it is unable to run a 1T command rate over a 240Mhz htt. the fan on the NF4 chipset will need to be replaced and the board is limited by voltages.

another thing... if you can I'd highly suggest you get rid of your 512mb sticks of RAM and get 2 1gb sticks. You'll be able to run a 1T command rate w/ 2 sticks and you'll get a better OC

and if you're looking at a new psu... (I would.. the x-connects have been known to blow up) you should take a look at the Seasonic S12-600

well that's my

I have had no 1T problems with my mobo running @270mhz .Its a very stable board .yes the DFI boards are very good mobos but they have a lot of glitches .Yes i know bios updates have sorted a lot of the problems out but my board maxed out at 330mhz at the moment i think is as high as i want to go. Corsair xms range of dimms are known to be good o/cing ram and that will be fine perhaps another upgrade at a later date just dont buy crucial ballistix it wasnt compatible with my board.. The 7800 gt walks all over the 6800 series as ity is much newer technology . i play all my gamesincluding COD2 And NFSMW @ ther highest levels with only 1gig of ram with no problems

but this is only my humble opinnion
