Strange problem with my overclock...

Thread Starter
I've overclocked my Venice 3500 from 2.2ghz to 2.5ghz. It's stable and all is fine. However, if i turn off my pc, and then go to turn it back on, it takes two presses of the power button to start up properly. I've heard of this problem before, and it isn't a big deal for me so I don't really mind that. However, once it's booted to desktop, my FSB is always reset to the default 200, as aposed to the 250 I have overclocked too (my multi is at 10)

Any idea why it's doing this? Is it some kind of "safety" feature? Something I can change in the BIOS? Please help!

Thanks

Could be that your CMOS battery is dying and not storing your settings. Try to buy a new battery and see if that changes your problem....that's all I can think of..I believe the battery # you need is "cr 3032"
Take a look at the battery, the type you need is on top of it.

Thanks for the advice, though I don't belive this to be the problem since it stores all my other settings, such as ram timings, voltages, and multi. It's just the FSB it resets.

Thanks though, rep+

Keep it coming!

Thanks again, but yup, it's disabled.

I'm running 230x11 now to get the same speed, i'll see if i get the same problem like this..

Anyone else?

Edit: Sorry! In my first post I didn't make my problem 100% clear. Although it doesn't set my FSB the first time i boot, if i then restart my PC, it loads all the settings, including the FSB, properly. So it's a case of restarting the PC every time i turn it on to get my OC to load.

Hmm..just to let you guys know, i've "fixed" the problem...if, when I turn the PC on, I then press the reset button twice, it loads properly. Seems it needs the initial power to start fans, etc. then another to start up CPU and what not, then another to load the overclock!

Strange, if i don't OC I only need to press the power button once!

Any ideas? PSU related?

I can live with it, though.

you got your front panel connectors backwards? Those things are always a little confusing, but either way, I'm glad you got it somewhat figured out

Ahhh..! Maybe that is it.

How do I know which way they go round? Haha, pardon my ignorance, but i've ALWAYS just put them in any way and it's worked fine???

That could be it. Shall I just try turning them around?

well, take a look at them, they usually all plug into the same area. Maybe switch the reset switch around, or the power one, It cant hurt anything...play around with it.
