New motherboard and computer wont even turn on

Thread Starter
I bought a new MSI PM8M-V 478 motherboard for this old computer (emachines) along with another 512mb stick of Corsair 3200 184pin and an AGP 8x 9800SE. I installed the new motherboard and the GPU and RAM plugged all the cords in, rechecked 2 or 3 times made sure everything was in the right place and where it is supposed to be. I go to press the power button in the front and it wont even turn on. The light wont even come on around the power button. Nothing! comes on NOTHING! I rechecked and rechecked and rechecked. I only have a 250watt PSU but you would think it would still turn on for a minute or two but nothing. I tryed resetting the battery bio thing nothing!PSU worked just the same day on the old (crap) motherboard and old graphics card (PCI FX5200) How do I make sure the polarity is correct with the front ports? I took out the newest stick of ram to see if that changed anything but still nothing.I go to look at the motherboard documentation and everything seems to right so I dont know what to do this is my final try to get this computer to even turn on. I dont think the motherboard is dead it is brand new from the store. I wore a anti static wristband so it isnt static electricity. I made sure the CPU was placed correcty and seated correctly. I went to see if it was the harddrive by taking out the harddrive out of my WORKING computer and putting it in there yet still nothing (note the hardrives are ATA133) I dont know what to do.

Did you plug the power button cable into the motherboard correctly?

note...The powersupply is kinda small.

When you hit the power button look at the processor fan. Does it twitch at all? Is ther a light on the motherboard?

What are the full system specs?

The fan doesnt even twitch nothing happens and to my knowledge there is no motherboard light. Even though my PSU is small it would astil flicker on a little and then shut of wouldnt it.

I am not sure on that one.. possibly could be the case that the pins on the powersupply are set up for the emachine motherboard and will not work on any other motherboard. Do you have another powersupply to test on this setup?

Some proprietary company's have special power supply's made for there motherboards. Company's like Dell, Gateway ect.. ect..ect

I unplugged all the devices (HD etc. . .etc) and it still wont turn on at all. The fan still wont move not even the PSU fan. So im assuming since im a human being that makes mistakes I screwed the PSU when installing everything the motherboard and graphics card. Anyway I can be for sure? Also where in gods name do you find a replacement PSU for a eMachines thats like finding Helen Keller playing Marco Polo

DUDE, We keep asking, is the Power swich plugged in?

I bet it is a diffrent setup just for emachines.

Look in the manual for the connections on the motherboard.

You should just be able to put any PSU in it..it shouldn't have to be emachines specific. I also have an emachines computer and I had no trouble replacing the power supply with an Antec Smartpower. Good Luck

*Ahem*
Is the power button plugged into the ATX on or pwr SW pins located at the bottom right of the motherboard? Sorry if some one already asked this, but I just want to make sure (I'm read out(I don't feel like reading too much today, I just finished Oliver twist in 4 days)).
